It's a Great Day to be a Brookfield Bronco!
10 Reasons Why Brookfield Is a Special Place
Brookfield Elementary is a dynamic school community where every child is nurtured to reach their full potential. With a focus on academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and inclusive opportunities, Brookfield creates a supportive environment for all learners. Here are some of the programs and features that make our school an amazing place for students and families alike.
A Tradition of Excellence
Brookfield Elementary is fully accredited. Full accreditation in math and language arts for an elementary school in Virginia is a testament to the school's commitment to providing a quality education for its students. All elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid are fully accredited in math and language arts. This means the schools have exceeded the state of Virginia's rigorous standards in these subject areas.
Advanced Learning for All
FCPS offers a continuum of services for elementary students to meet their current academic needs. All elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid offer Advanced Academic services along the continuum of services. Brookfield Elementary offers full time, part time and subject specific Advanced Academic Services.
Discovering Potential, Unlocking Futures
All elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid offer the Young Scholars program designed to identify and support students with high academic potential who may face additional barriers to access and reach their full potential in Advanced Academic Programming. This may include students who are economically disadvantaged, twice exceptional, and multilingual learners.
Learning Language, Building Bridges
Brookfield offers Foreign Language in the Elementary School (FLES) to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. All students at Brookfield receive one hour of Spanish instruction each school week.
The Brookfield PTA: Our Partners in Education
Brookfield has an active and supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA helps to enhance the school community, increase our resources by fundraising, offer many before and after school opportunities for students, and help to advocate for the needs of the students and school. Brookfield PTA offers a “birthday books" program where students receive a free book during their birthday month, in addition to supporting our staff and students throughout the year.
A World of Diversity
Brookfield Elementary is a wonderfully diverse neighborhood school. More than 70% of our learners speak more than one language. All elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid provide support for students who are multilingual learners. Services are individualized to meet each students' English language development needs, specifically through engaging in reading tasks, writing tasks, and academic conversations.
Starting the Day with Connection
All classrooms at Brookfield start each day with the Responsive Classroom Morning Meeting. Starting the day with Morning Meeting builds community, enhances social-emotional skills, boosts academic performance, helps to establish routines, promotes active learning, and supports individual student needs.
Wellness Wednesdays
Students at Brookfield engage in Social Emotional Learning throughout the day. Each Wednesday, morning activities are focused on wellness topics, including emotional regulation and self-management. Students learn to understand the full range of their feelings, as well as explore tools and strategies to support their well-being utilizing the Zones of Regulation.
Inspiring Tomorrow’s Educators
Brookfield hosts student interns from George Mason University’s Education programs in addition to Teachers for Tomorrow students from Chantilly HS. Students in education programs learn alongside our experienced teachers and begin to build their educational experience as they work toward a career in education.
Empowering Students with AVID
Brookfield implements the AVID Elementary program. AVID Elementary is a research-based instructional framework embedded into daily routines at the elementary level. AVID-trained teachers in 6th grade infuse writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading, relational capacity, and college/career awareness into their classes, while teachers throughout the building infuse relational capacity and college/career awareness into their work with students.
Brookfield Elementary is an amazing school where students succeed in a supportive and welcoming community. With strong academics, programs like AVID and FLES, and a focus on diversity and collaboration, Brookfield helps every student grow and thrive.
