Hope / Optimism

Our Positivity Project trait the first week we return to school in January is hope. People with hope can expect the best from the future and work to achieve it. Optimistic people are future-oriented. They keep a positive attitude despite setbacks-- and often find ways to change what seems like an obstacle into a stepping stone to achieving their goals.

Please talk with your child about their hopes and dreams for the future. Tell them a goal you set for yourself and how you achieved it, even when it didn't seem very easy. Does your child want to read more? Does he/she want to be better at a sport? Is she/he interested in the arts, such as music or painting? Please help your child set small goals in an area they are interested in and help them achieve them by setting small steps to reach a final goal. Having a positive outlook for the future will help your child have a greater sense of optimism in their life.
